Barely two weeks before 20th Century Fox launches Steven Soderbergh¹s film adaptation of the science fiction classic, Solaris, by the world-renowned Polish writer, StanisÅ‚aw Lem, the Polish Cultural Institute and the Pioneer Theater are giving science-fiction fans and Lem aficionados a chance to see four Polish films based on Lem stories that nicely capture the intellectually provocative humor so characteristic of most of Lem’s writing. The only Polish films based on stories by Lem, they have never before been shown publicly in the United States. At least two of the films were co-scripted by Lem himself, and one was directed by Andrzej Wajda. All have English sub-titles.
